The Bulindi Chimpanzee and Community Project (BCCP) has its origins in anthropological research into the chimpanzee–human interface by Dr Matt McLennan and colleagues, including a long-term study of the chimpanzees of Bulindi, which began in 2006.  Research by Dr Matt and BCCP-affiliated colleagues and students has generated a series of scientific articles exploring chimpanzee behaviour and human–chimpanzee interactions in Bulindi and elsewhere in the region.
